The Model Of Delivery

Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I may remember.
Involve me and I will learn.

Liu Xiang

This ancient quote has served as our guiding ethos from the very first Flower 125 Health Programme training. Our goal? To create an environment in which each person feels safe, heard and seen is our primary task, before anyone walks in the door.

Our unique health programme is loosely based on The Incredible Years: A Trouble-shooting Guide for Parents of Children Aged 2-8 Years by Carolyn Webster-Stratton.

Her theories on praise and immediate positive recognition resonated with the founders of our powerful programme and naturally complemented their knowledge of health and youth work. It’s this combined model that underpins the success of the Flower 125 Health Programme.

So what exactly is the Flower 125 Programme?

It’s a structured but not prescriptive, young person-centered health promotion programme, delivered through interactive workshops, using action based methods and activities. Topics covered include:
• Healthy Eating
• Physical Activity
• Sleep and Relaxation
• First Aid
• Alcohol
• Smoking
• Drugs
• Relationships – with oneself and others (including Sexual Health)

Simply put?

Well we can tell you about our program ad infinitum, but in a nutshell, it’s a stimulating experience that needs to be experienced to be truly understood. Why? Because Flower 125 is a participatory process where every member contributes and shapes its direction.

Today, the Flower 125 Health Programme continues to grow throughout Sheffield and the UK, thanks to the help of health and education professionals, knowledgeable facilitators and of course, our amazing young participants.
